What is AnimeHive?

AnimeHive is the Anime Internet. We concentrate on providing the best file download network you can get, constantly upgrading our bandwidth pipes to give you the best speeds and to increase our storage capacity. In other words, we are an anime digital media web host.

How does AnimeHive work?

AnimeHive is just providing the hosting service and file serving platform. A customer purchases bandwidth by blocks of gigabyte and is free to download anything that's hosted on the servers using tried and tested ftp technology.

Why should I pay for bandwidth?

AnimeHive is providing an internet hosting service. While the ideal world is where everything is free, (we wish bandwidth is free too!) it isn't. Fast bandwidth pipes and a stable, redundant network infrastructure requires huge investments. As the wise man used to say, nothing is for free and the fall of internet companies in the past 2 years is testimonial to that. That's the long answer. The short answer is it costs us money too.

The Anime Internet? That's a pretty big claim!

I work for a fansub group. How can we ride on your network?

Apply for an upload account now! It's available on a first come first serve basis. We do not do any selection at all. By uploading your releases, your work will be seen by our wide customer base.

What's AnimeHive's policy on licensed fansubs in US?

AnimeHive respects copyrights. Our network has the ability to screen users by locality. As such, we can block users within your licensing territory from accessing our service. As we neither track our content nor monitor licensing news, we will take action if you back up your claim following the procedures on our legal page. Please only contact us if you are the legal owner within your respective territories.


How much does it cost?

We have plans starting as low as US$5. Check out our pricing plans here.

Why does the subscription cost more than the bandwidth block purchase?

The reason is that the bandwidth credited to your account under the subscription expires monthly, while the bandwidth you purchase by blocks never expire. This means that you can use whatever you purchase over months down the the very last drop.

I want 8gb of bandwidth. How do I purchase?

We sell bandwidth in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20gb. If you want a different amount of bandwidths, you can change the quantity to 3 units of 1gb and 1 unit of 5gb.

How fast can I download?

You can download as fast as the peer to peer connection allows! We do not capped the speeds our users can download at!

What is the accepted mode of payment?

Currently we only accept paypal. As long as you have a credit card, debit card, or a bank account that's linked to paypal, you can use our services.

I do not have a paypal account. What should I do?

As mentioned above, during payment, if you do not have a paypal account, you can create one on the spot using your credit card. It's that easy!

Do you store my credit card information?

All our payments are handled by Paypal. As such, no credit card information is sent to us. We do not capture your card information either.

How long does it take to activate my account upon payment?

We strive to activate your account within 24 hours upon payment. Typically it will be faster if it is day time.

Can I trade with you instead?

Barter trade is cool. Not. Just like our ancestors, we have evolved to a new form of commerce using items of symbolic value called... money. You should try it too.

Is there a time limit I must use the bandwidth by?

If you purchase bandwidth by blocks, the bandwidth will not expire. However bandwidth bought on subscribtion basis will expire monthly.

How fast is the network you are on?

Check out the network that we are on. It has over 2gb/s of bandwidth! We will continue to ensure that there will not be any slowdowns in the network.

Why is your monthly subscription plans cheaper per GB?

The main difference between buying bandwidth in advance and the subscription plans is that the bandwidth will not expire. This means that you can continue to use the bandwidth for months! At the same time, subscription accounts cost us less to maintain. So we are passing on the savings to you. And lastly, we do want to encourage monthly subscriptions as we want you to stay with us.

Can I upload?

At this moment, we are not accepting new upload accounts. From time to time, we may recruit more uploaders. You can send a request to our support staff.

Give me 3 good reasons why I should sign up with you!

Actually there's over 10 reasons... but since you aren't so demanding, here's three. First of all, you get to enjoy blazing download speeds without the need to queue or wait. It's there 365/24/7, anytime, anyday. Secondly, get access to all your favourite anime digital media files including hard to find series. Lastly, we think we are cool. ^^

How can I download?

Our service utilise tried and tested file serving technology. You will need to install ftp software for your operating system and follow the configuration settings mentioned in your welcome email.

Which ftp client can I use?

My personal favourite is FlashFXP. Nobody probably cares about what I think though. Other common software includes CuteFTP and WS_FTP

You can also check out sites like Tucows or Download.com for their huge list of ftp software.

What files are available?

There are anime digital media consisting of videos, movies, manga and a lot more! You don't have to take our word for it. Try it out for yourself.

What happens if my connection terminates halfway?

You simply continue the download where it stops! Our servers support resuming! So you no longer have to pull your hair over an incomplete download. Just login again and continue from where you left off. It's that simple. Note however that there are setting within your ftp program that you must tweak.

Will an incomplete file count towards my bandwidth quota?

The short answer: Yes. As we do not track downloads by files, we only measure in terms of bytes transferred. There shouldn't be an issue either as all incomplete downloads can be resumed at any other time at your convenience.

Do you have a speed cap on downloads?

Not at all. If you have a fast connection, speed away!

Is there a limit to the number of simultaneous ftp sessions that can be opened at once?

Yes. All accounts are limited to 5 simultaneous connections.

Can I use a download acceleretors?

Yes. You can use a download accelerator as long as you do not set it at more than 5 connections. Any hammering of our servers is considered unfriendly and may result in termination of service.

What is a download accelerator?

A download accelerator typically do multi-part downloads by breaking a file into a few parts and downloading them at the same time. This is ideal for customers who cannot maintain a fast single connection but still has spare bandwidth. My personal favourite is FlashGet.

I downloaded a complete file, but it does not play. What can I do?

Please make sure that you have the right codec installed. Most media files are encoded in DivX or XViD while images are either in Jpeg or Gif. You can get the codecs and/or software from the following sources.

Winamp - Home of the most popular mp3 player in the world!
Acdsee - Great Image Viewer supporting many formats and allow viewing without unzipping.

How do I verify the integrity of the files?

Firstly you will need external software like WinCRC if you intend to check CRC. Most of the times, if the file plays, it should be fine. As a tip, if you need to resume your file, it is advisable to set your downloads to do a rollback. This eliminates corruption of the files almost all the time. The CRC do not match! What do I do?

Please send us a support ticket or email at support@AnimeHive.com with the file name of the file downloaded and the CRC that you got for our investigation.

Help! I get poor speeds from your service!

The speeds you can get varies from location to location. Please try a traceroute from your location to our servers and send us the information. At the same time, please provide us information on your machine type, operating system, and your location and email to us the information at support@AnimeHive.com. You can also open a help support ticket with us, or use any other of our support channels.

I want the Pokeman vs Sailormoon anime! It's not available in your service. What should I do?

You can try posting in the request thread in our forums. We cannot and do not control nor monitor this thread. It is at the discretion of other users whether they are willing to help.

Do you allow FXP?

Due to security issues, fxp is not allowed.

What is FXP anyway?

FXP is a form of server of server transfers from a ftp to another. It does this by "tricking" the ftp the address to send or receive from. Due to the nature of its operation, it's has security implications. To ensure continual service for all users, we apologise if it inconvenience you in any way.


Who can upload?

In order to upload, your account must be enabled for uploads. Note that it is not automatic and we have limited slots for uploaders given on a first come first served basis. Any inactive upload accounts will be disabled and the slot given to the next in the waiting list after every 2 weeks.

Which FTP client can I use?

Any FTP clients will work. You can refer to our Support pages on some commonly use software as well as our FTP guide.

What can I upload?

After you had applied and been accepted, you will be told our requirements and the restrictions. Generally, any anime related digital media files are accepted.

Is the upload bandwidth counted in my purchased bandwidth?

No. Upload bandwidth is absolutely outside of the purchased bandwidth and you can upload as much as you want!

Can I resume an upload if it terminates?

Yes. Our service supports resumes on both uploads and downloads.

Is there a guarantee that what I upload will be shared? How does the system work anyway?

There is no guarantee. We have volunteers who are not affiliated to the company sorting through the uploads daily. They will move appropriate files to the download server. However, generally, it will be shared if it didn't infringe any of the requirements or restrictions we put in place.

Can I get free credits for uploading?

Yes. We will offer free credits to our uploaders.

What can I upload?

Generally as long as it is anime-related digital media, we will not restrict it. However we do have some restrictions on US copyrighted and adult materials.

How much can I upload? Is there a bandwidth limit?

There is no bandwidth limit at all.

There's not enough space to upload!

This problem should never happen at all as we have policies in place as well as provision of ample space. However in the rare situation it happens, do feel free to send us an email at support@AnimeHive.com

I got this kickass anime! I want to share it with my friends!

We do not generally make exceptions to our rules. Please apply for an upload account and we will give you an account at the first opportunity.

Are there any file size restrictions?

None at all.

Are there any file name restrictions?

Yes. Our FTP servers are configured not to accept special character like "~" "!" "," and a few others. Generally if the file name isn't accepted, the FTP server will inform you of such.

Account Management

I forgot my username and password. What can I do?

Please send us an email at support@AnimeHive.com from the email you registered with us. If for some reason you no longer have access to the email, please contact us and we will help you in anyway possible.

How can I add more bandwidth to my existing account?

Simply purchase more bandwidth

I wish to delete my account.

If you wish to have your account details deleted, please let us know.

Can I create several accounts and spread out the bandwidth I bought over several accounts?

Currently, we do not support the creation of multiple accounts for individual bandwidth plans.

My personal details and email has changed! What should I do?

Please send an e-mail to support@animehive.com and notify us so that we can update our database.

How do I check my bandwidth quota left?

You can do so by logging in to your account. In yout FTP client's window, you should see a similar entry to this:

[R] 226 [Ul: 0.0MB] [Dl: 100.0MB] [Speed: 0.00K/s] [Credits: 900.0MB]

"Dl" represents the amount of bandwidth you've used so far and "Credits" represents the amount of bandwidth remaining on your account.

Can I share my account with my friends?

You may share your account with anyone you like as long as you trust them. Just keep in mind that you are the one paying for the bandwidth.

I didn't download anything! But my bandwidth quota is decreasing!

This should never be happening. Please ensure that you did not share your accounts with your friends. We strongly encourage no sharing of accounts. We will be unable to support you if you do. If you didn't, please send us an email at support@AnimeHive.com for investigation. Upon launching an investigation, your account will be temporarily suspended till its completion.


What are the accepted modes of payment?

As long as you have a Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express or eChecks, we can accept them all. We make use of Paypal for clearing all your payments.

Do you support monthly subscription plans?

Yes we do. Please check out our plans here.

What is the billing cycle? (Applicable only to Subscriptions)

The billing cycle depends on the time you sign up. For example, if you sign up with us on the 1st of the month, you billing cycle will always be the 1st of each month.

I wish to purchase more bandwidth. Will it be added to my existing account?

As long as you use the same email each and everytime you purchase bandwidth, we will automatically credit your account with more bandwidth. However if it isn't available.

Existing monthly subscribers have the option to add on additional bandwidth to their accounts at the same low monthly pricing should they use up all their bandwidth during that particular month. (One-time fees)

Can you mix different plans together?

Yes you can. However you cannot mix prepaid bandwidth plans with the monthly subscription plans. If you happen to purchase both, we will create 2 accounts for you. We had to do this due to the different nature of the accounts.

If the file is incomplete, does it count towards my bandwidth purchased?

Yes. You do not "waste" the bandwidth as you can still resume the download.

I am a bit broke this month. Can you refund me the unused bandwidth?

Sorry. All purchases are non-refundable.

I am on a subscription plan. Do I need to renew annually? (Applicable only to Subscriptions)

The subscriptions need not be renewed. It will continue pepertually until you choose to cancel it.

I am on a subscription plan. I wish to stop using your service. (Applicable only to Subscriptions)

Not a problem. You can just login to your Paypal account normally and cancel or you can use this link. Once you have cancelled the subscription, all remaining monthly bandwidth in your account will be withdrawn.
